Theme

Shunyo

The theme of this year’s Icho Festival is “Shunyo(春陽)” (Spring Radiance). “Shunyo” refers to the "warm sunlight of spring"— It’s also a word often used in late April to early May, capturing the bright, uplifting feeling of Golden Week—the kind of weather that makes you want to step outside and enjoy the day.

The character “yo” (陽) has images of light, positivity, and lively energy. The Icho Festival is likewise a event in which each student releases their inner passion as “light,” illuminating the entire campus. Through daily dedication and a spirit of inquiry, this energy transforms into the gentle light of spring, spreading outward and softening the hearts of those who gather. We strive to create a space filled with the warmth of a “sunny spot” and a sense of hope for future.

In this season when fresh green ginkgo leaves begin to bud, you can find a variety of originality everywhere in the campus. Stage performances, indoor and outdoor events, food stalls—each activity radiates its own brilliance. As these lights intersect and resonate with one another, the Icho Festival gathers warmth, like a single great sun. We hope that “Shunyo(春陽)” will be an event in which all students of the University of Osaka can be mian character and they inspire someone with fresh senses.
